This skillset teaches partipants how to guide bushwalking activities in controlled environments. "Controlled environments" are in tracked or easy untracked areas that are reliably marked on maps and are obvious on the ground.

Bushwalking is the activity of trekking on foot through various outdoor environments. Mostly this occurs on tracks designed for bushwalking, but can also be through untracked areas of varying vegetation, climatic conditions, elevation and duration. This skillset will teach you how to plan and guide a bushwalk, how to operate communication systems and equipment, how to minimise the environmental impacts of a group in the bush, interpreting weather conditions and other skills such as responding to emergency situations and undertaking a risk analysis of an activity.
Written risk assessments, emergency management plans and practical assessments will be used in this skillset.

HLTAID003 Provide First Aid is a prerequsite unit and must be completed prior to starting this skill set.

A current first aid certificate - HLTAID003 Provide irst aid, is a Core Unit and is required before commencing the course.
